My name is Ganiyu Olayinka AREMU. I had my medical education at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Had my mandatory post doctoral internship at the Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, Nigeria.
Following this I had an impressive career as a Medical Officer with the Sokoto State Specialist Hospital Sokoto where I rose to the level of Principal Medical Officer before disengaging from service to train as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi-Lagos.
I have been involved in clinical duties as a general duty doctor, a specialist registrar in orthopaedic and trauma surgery, as well as a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon. I also have administrative experience, having been the Principal Medical Officer in charge of Tangaza General Hospital and Karaye Hospital both in Sokoto State. I participated in teaching both the medical students and freshly graduated medical doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. I served as the Chief Registrar at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Lagos where I coordinated the doctors' duties, rotations and academic activities. I also participated in setting up the Trauma unit of Mercy Group Clinics Abeokuta, Ogun State. Other duties I performed in these various centres included clinical presentations on topical issues in orthopaedic and trauma, participation in research activities as well as teaching other medical and paramedical staff.
I am a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, (NMA), member Medical and Dental Consultant Association of Nigeria(MDCAN), member Nigerian Orthopaedic Association (NOA), member National Postgraduate Medical College (surgery) and Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons(FWACS).
My areas of interest include orthopaedic trauma; limb reconstruction; hip and knee arthroplasties.
Currently, I am a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon and head of Department of Surgery at the Federal Staff Hospital, Jabi-Abuja, Nigeria where I coordinate clinical and surgical activities of the hospital.
I am happily married with lovely children.
